ABOUT US
We are a branch of the national Society of Recorder Players, meeting near Winchester once a month for three hours to play recorder music together as a large group (25 - 35 players). The Branch has about 50 members. We play instruments ranging in size from the 12-inch sopranino to the 8-foot contrabass.
We meet at 2pm on the fourth Saturday of each month in the large hall of the Community Centre, Colden Common and play under the baton of our musical director, Julia McKinley, or one of the fine guest conductors affiliated to the Society. We play a wide variety of music, ancient and modern, for maximum enjoyment! If you wish to attend a Branch meeting please contact April Munday (aprilmunday63.AT.gmail.com) to book a place.
We always welcome new players - if you enjoy playing the recorder but have never played in a group before or are a little rusty, you can come along to one of our meetings as a visitor without having to join right away. The only requirements are that you can read music and play a recorder! The session runs from 2pm until 5pm with a break for tea and coffee.
A newsletter is sent out monthly to members and friends of the Branch.
What it costs
The annual subscription for 2024 to 2025 is £55 for individuals, £80 for families and households, £25 for an associate (those who have already joined another Branch or are a personal member) and £10 for young people payable on 1st September each year. Visitors pay £10 per session. There is a membership form with which to pay your subscription here.
